Decennial Reaffirmation 2025 Update

In December, members of the University of Alabama’s SACSCOC Leadership team attended “Leadership Orientation for the Class of 2025” at the SACSCOC Annual Meeting held in Atlanta, GA. During the Orientation meetings, UA’s SACSCOC Vice President Dr. Lynn Crosby distributed timelines specific to the members of the Class of 2025. A few key dates to note are September 2024, the Compliance Certification is due, and February 2025, the SACSCOC On-Site Review Team will visit UA. Dr. Ginger Bishop, UA’s SACSCOC Liaison, also was elected to the SACSCOC Board of Trustees during the Annual Meeting.

Development of the Quality Enhancement Plan, another component of SACSCOC reaffirmation, began this month. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness is soliciting potential projects from faculty and staff. To propose a project that focuses on student learning or student success, please complete this form by Jan. 30 , 2023. The QEP is “a carefully designed course of action that addresses a well-defined and focused topic or issue related to enhancing student learning and/or student success.”

For more information on proposing a project for the QEP, please contact Ginger Bishop (vabishop@ua.edu).

Every ten years, colleges and universities accredited by SACSCOC must demonstrate their compliance with the standards in the Principles of Accreditation. This process is called reaffirmation of accreditation. It is a process of institutional self-evaluation that culminates in two stages of peer review conducted by senior level faculty and administrators (Peer Evaluators) from other institutions accredited by SACSCOC.
