UA hosted the SACSCOC On-Site Reaffirmation Committee from Feb. 24-27, marking a significant step towards institutional reaffirmation of accreditation. The committee engaged with faculty, students, staff and administrators to discuss U.S. Department of Education standards and address any prior concerns.
The visit focused on the University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), aimed at improving early academic success. The committee found no non-compliance issues but suggested enhancements to the QEP. The final version of the plan was submitted to SACSCOC on May 22, ahead of the July 27 deadline.
The QEP and Reaffirmation Report will be reviewed by a SACSCOC subcommittee in December, with the final accreditation decision being announced at the SACSCOC Annual Meeting on Dec. 7.

Every ten years, colleges and universities accredited by SACSCOC must demonstrate their compliance with the standards in the Principles of Accreditation. This process is called reaffirmation of accreditation. It is a process of institutional self-evaluation that culminates in two stages of peer review conducted by senior level faculty and administrators (Peer Evaluators) from other institutions accredited by SACSCOC.
